Thank you so much to Jody Callahan at the Commercial Appral for including the link to this Chip In in today's article about the Bhujel family. I would like to reiterate that although we are seeking 501c3 status, we are not currently a non-profit and this will not be a tax-deductible donation.
The goal of Memphis Refugee Assistance at this time is to help refugee families who are living in poverty monetarily, especially in emergency situations. Please note that there is already a wonderful organization, Refugee Empowerment Program, that has been of great assistance and comfort to the Bhujels. They are an established non-profit group and will be receiving donations for the Bhujels as well. Out of respect of the Bhujel family's privacy in a time of great mourning, I will not share details of what happened on this page. All I will say is this: they lost their mother in a terribly tragic accident today. This is a family of Bhutanese refugees who has been in the US for about a year. They live in poverty and will not be able to afford funeral expenses. If you would like to help them, please contribute. Every little bit helps.
